In this thoughtful episode, Tyra shares her experiences of school life, friendship, and the challenges that come with getting along with others. She talks honestly about playground disagreements, the ups and downs of friendships, and the role children often play in helping friends resolve conflicts.

The conversation explores important topics such as bullying, kindness, racism, and how schools help children learn to treat one another with respect. Tyra reflects on what she would do if someone was being bullied and explains why small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Along the way, she imagines having superpowers, wonders what life as an adult might be like, and talks about her dream of becoming a doctor. Filled with insight, humour, and wisdom beyond her years, this episode offers a powerful reminder that children have important perspectives on the challenges and opportunities they face every day.

I am Tyra and I am nine. And what's your school name? Gardner Street Primary School. Oh, it's all right.

I had like, there's been lots of crazy things since the start of school. Lots of drama, lots of fights with friends, stuff like that. And the work is really, really hard.

So I wouldn't say school is like, bad or anything. Like I have, I have to do education, stuff like that. But I don't say it's good either, because there's just like, lots of bad things about school

Things happen like, I don't like when people go and fight like me and my friends, because I have to be like the person that translates for everyone. And I'm really annoyed about that. Like people, like if you get in a fight, people, the two people or more people, they don't like to talk to each other.

Like most people don't. So there's just this person or two people, how much people, and like the first person says something, and you have to tell the other person. There's like, lots of crazy things in the class.

I wouldn't say I, I don't get in much fights, because like, I'm just nice with everyone. But like, sometimes it's really annoying when people are like, people are like, so mad at me, that like, I just don't even care anymore. And the really annoying thing about friendship is like, you get in fights, but like the next day, you became friends, like nothing ever happens.

But like, if you've done nothing, and like you got in a fight with someone, and just someone said, I'm mad at you, or something like that. And they become friends the next day, it would be really annoying. Because like, why did you just forget everything? Like nothing ever happened, you know? And there's lots of crazy things.

So we have this anti-bullying thing. And it goes on for a week. And then every class, it's called sorry.

And then like a group of people, they come, and they talk about anti-bullying, how it's like racism, stuff like that. And they talk about why is it bad. And like, bullying is a really bad thing.

Because like, if something happens, like just one day, it's not really bullying, but it's rude. But like, if it keeps going on, then it's like bullying. They're constantly doing it to you, or saying it to you.

And even physically, it's really bad. Like if they hit you, or smack you, or punch you, it's really bad. And if I was in that situation, I would just like tell the teacher.

And I would not get into it. I would just like tell the teacher. And then the person and the teacher would have like their problems.

And I would. I would say smile at them. Like, try and make them laugh.

Or be kind to them, like constantly. Not just like one whole day. Just like repeatingly be nice and kind.

If you will have any superpower you can get, what it will be and why? You know, I don't have to say it. I forgot the word. But you know when you can control stuff with your mind? Yeah, I would.

I would have that superpower. Like people or only objects? I would do objects. It will be really cool to show off to people.

And I also think it would be really nice for me because like, if I don't want to move, like if I want a snack, I could just grab it with my mind. And that would be really good. Or if like, I have to charge my phone before bed.

Yeah. I would charge it by like, I would do it with my mind. Awesome.

Like just one day you woke up and you're an adult. What would you do? So first, I would, I would be shocked. But I would try and take things easy, not be in a lot of stress because people are, older people can have stress or heart attacks.

So I never want that to happen. And I think I would just, it would be a normal day. But then I had to take care of like, people, stuff like that.

I had to do like work situations. And it would be really hard for me because I never done work with like jobs. But I think I would try and take it easy.

Like, I don't normally think about it because I just think in the present time. Because like, I don't need to worry about my future right now. I think I would need to worry about it in maybe college or secondary school.

But I haven't really think about it. But like, I think about it when, like in class to teach my teacher ask, she hasn't asked this yet, but before my teacher always asked, what would you like to be when in the future or when you're older? And I always said like a doctor, a doctor is my dream job. But I had to work really, really hard for that.

So yeah, but like, if I could get a job in secondary school, like a part time, I would actually don't know about that one. I still have to think.
